Carnegie Learning: The best post-COVID approach to back-to-school may not be what you think

In pre-pandemic times, many districts started the school year with students taking a diagnostic assessment that placed them at a curriculum starting point that may have been below grade level. But we shouldn’t go back to business-as-usual. When we go back to school this year, we should accelerate student learning by starting them at grade level and focusing more on formative assessments.

In fact, our data on student performance in the MATHia software shows that students can indeed achieve at grade-level with the right support. Dr. Steve Ritter, Founder and Chief Scientist at Carnegie Learning, explains more in “Assessment and the Road Less Traveled: How to Best Address Unfinished Learning.” Read the full article.
