MACUL members are eligible to apply for our grants program for their classrooms.
Grant Purpose & Goal
Our grants are awarded to encourage and support members interested in implementing effective instructional uses of technology.
Each project should focus on an instructional use of technology, which has the potential of being replicated in other educational settings.
We’ve awarded over $500,000 to Michigan classrooms
2026 marks the 39th year of awarding MACUL grants to classrooms and education programs all over Michigan.
We thank the REMC Association of Michigan for partnering with MACUL to increase the number of grants awarded.
MACUL Grants open at the Annual MACUL Conference in March.

Grant Title: Empowering Rural Math Students with Real-Time Socratic Tutoring
School: North Adams Jerome High School

Grant description:This grant will provide Goblins AI on classroom iPads to deliver personalized, real-time math intervention that helps students actively solve problems by writing, drawing, and explaining their thinking. Rather than simply providing answers, the AI analyzes each student’s work and offers guided, Socratic feedback to build conceptual understanding while allowing teachers to focus on targeted small-group instruction. The platform also documents each student’s learning process, giving teachers valuable insight into student growth and progress.
Grant Title: Engaging and Differentiating Coding for Elementary Students
School: Scotch Elementary

Grant description:This grant will provide Sphero Mini Education Packs to engage elementary students in hands-on coding and computational thinking through interactive robotics. The adaptable platform allows students of all ability levels to progress from simple robot controls to block-based coding while fostering creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. With curriculum-aligned lessons and educator resources, Sphero Minis will strengthen computer science and STEAM instruction by providing engaging, differentiated learning experiences that build coding skills and critical thinking.
Grant Title: Printing for a Purpose
School: Trinity Lutheran School
Grant description:This grant will establish a Student Innovation and Service Lab where students use 3D design software and 3D printers to create solutions for real-world school and community needs. Through an elective course and after-school innovation club, students will apply the engineering design process to research problems, develop prototypes, test and refine their ideas, and produce meaningful products. By combining creativity, engineering, and community service, the program empowers students to become innovative problem-solvers while building valuable STEM and career-ready skills.
Grant Title: Securing the Future — Hands-On IoT Security Education with EXPLIoT
School: Canton High School
School District: Plymouth-Canton Community Schools
Grant description:This grant will equip the CTE technology classroom with EXPLIoT IoT Security Learning Kits, giving students hands-on experience analyzing and securing real Internet of Things (IoT) devices using industry-standard tools and techniques. Through a series of guided labs, students will investigate hardware vulnerabilities, analyze communication protocols, and perform authentic cybersecurity tasks such as firmware analysis and wireless security testing. By moving beyond simulations to real-world cybersecurity practice, the program will prepare students with in-demand technical skills aligned to industry standards and careers in the growing field of IoT security.
Grant Title: From Readers to Creators: Transforming Literacy Through Interactive
School: Valley View Elementary School
School District: Battle Creek Public Schools
Grant description: This grant will provide iPads to enhance literacy and math instruction through interactive, student-centered learning. Using apps such as Notability, Seesaw, and Canva, students will annotate texts, explain their thinking verbally, create engaging projects, and visually demonstrate problem-solving strategies. These tools will increase student engagement, support diverse learning needs, and provide multiple ways for students to demonstrate understanding while strengthening communication, critical thinking, and academic achievement.
Grant Title: Amplifying Middle School Voices: A Student Media Initiative
School: Concord Middle School

Grant description: This grant will implement a mobile media production studio using the Padcaster Studio Bundle, transforming iPads into professional-quality video and podcasting tools. Students will develop communication, storytelling, and digital media skills by producing podcasts, creating student-led school news broadcasts, and developing multimedia literacy projects in English Language Arts. The included lifetime software subscription ensures long-term, sustainable access to professional editing tools and resources, providing future students with ongoing opportunities to create authentic, high-quality digital content.
Grant Title: Mobile Media Innovation Lab: Real-Time Student Storytelling Through Instructional Technology

Grant description: This grant will create a Mobile Media Innovation Lab that equips students with portable production technology to produce professional-quality news stories, documentaries, podcasts, interviews, and other digital media for authentic audiences. Through hands-on, real-world projects, students will develop communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while experiencing the complete media production process—from planning and filming to editing, publishing, and reflection. The program will prepare students for advanced media opportunities, competitions, and future careers by providing meaningful, portfolio-worthy production experiences.
